Kiss Good Night
Like an owl,
the lizard stretches
its neck out,
sitting on the roof
of a brown-tiled house.
Calling out to the moon,
he goes “meow,”
he goes “hiss,”
he barks,
and finally
he says hello.
The moon necks
back out,
peering from behind
the big leaves
of a big tree
to kiss him good
night. “Be good,”
the moon said, “and
I will be back
tomorrow night
for one more kiss.”
